Bolywood super star and Super star of the millenium Amitabh Bachchan is son of the famous Hindi poet late Harivansh Rai Bachchan. He was born at Allahabad in Uttar Pradesh in 11 October 1942. After completing his Master Of Arts (M A) from Sherwood College, Nainital and Kirori Mal College, Delhi University, he shifted to Kolkata to work in a shipping firm. Later he moved to Mumbai to try in Hindi film Industry.

Initial years of Amitabh were full of struggle, due to his tallness and of dark complexion, he could not match to the image of lover boy. He started his acting journey with the film “Saat Hindustani”, and won his first National Film Award as Best Newcomer.

First hit film of him was “Zanzeer” in 1973 with his real life love and future wife Jaya Bhaduri. This film gave Amitabh in a new form of “angry young man” action hero of Bollywood.

After it Amitabh gave many hit film like : “Deewaar “, “Sholay “, “Trishul “, “Muqaddar Ka Sikander “, “Don “, “Kasme Vaade “, “Kaala Patthar “, “Mr. Natwarlal”, “Ram Balram “, “Shaan “, “Lawaaris ” , “Shakti “, “Chupke Chupke”, “Amar Akbar Anthony” , “Namak Halal”, “Kabhie Kabhie” and “Silsila”.

Amitabh has got tremendous fan following across all age groups. Once upon a time he was fatally injured during the shooting of “coolie”. His fans prayed for him and even offered their one limb for his recovery. However, Amitabh recovered soon, and the film “coolie” was was a big hit at box office.

After taking break from acting, Amitabh entered politics with the support of his friend Late Rajiv Gandhi, and elected Member of Parliament from Allahabad in 1984 but soon he decided to quit. After that Amitabh turned towards production of films and established Amitabh Bachchan Corporation Ltd (ABCL) for production and distribution of films, and also hosted popular game show “Kaun Banega Karorpati” on TV.

Amitabh was alleged to have acquired cultivable land in Barabanki district of UP by unlawful means, but he was given clean chit by the High Court. Amitabh Bachchan was named Actor of the Millennium in a BBC News Poll ahead of such luminaries as Charlie Chaplin, Sir Lawrence Olivier, and Marlon Brando. He has also done playback singing in “Laawaris”, “Toofan” and “Silsila”.

He won many film awards like : Filmfare Award for Best Actor Critics for “Aks”, Best Supporting Actor for “Mohabatein”, Best Supporting Actor for “Anand”, Best Supporting Actor for “Veer-Zaara”, Best Actor for “Hum”, Best Actor for “Don” and National Film Awards, India for Best Actor for “Agneepath”
