‘Tahaan‘- is a fiction journey of an eight-year-old boy, whose life revolves around the pursuit to search real aim in his little world.

Tahaan (Purav Bhandara) lives in the serene meadows of Kashmir with his family members : grandfather (Victor Banerjee), mother Haba (Sarika) and older sister Zoya (Sana Shaikh). They are living in the hope that someday Tahaan’s missing father, will return. .

After the death of his grandfather, the local moneylender Lalaji and his manager Kuka (Rahul Khanna) take the assets of the family, and their pet donkey Birbal due to a pending loan. Tahaan can do everything for bringing his favourite donkey Birbal back home.
After making various efforts for money, Tahaan aproaches Lalaji for regaining his lost asset. But an old man Subhan Darr (Anupam Kher) has bought Birbal and taken him across the mountains. This is the same mountains from where Tahaan’s father never returned.

But Tahaan chases after Subhan. The old man doesn’t befriend Tahaan at first time but after some time he likes this energetic and determined soul, and whose love for Birbal.

But the end of the journey is not goof for Tahaan because Subhan gifts Birbal to his orphaned eight-year-old nephew. The long-time helper of Subhan called Zafar (Rahul Bose), cannot help Tahaan.

When he is coming back to home, Tahaan finally meets a teenage lad ldrees, who convinces him that his efforts are not sufficient to get Birbal back. Then he promises to get Birbal back.

Tahaan starts his second journey with Subhan and Zafar in search of Birbal. What will be paid by Tahaan for Birbal? And how far will he go to save his only aim in life? Will he get Birbal back?
