It seems Mallika loves to play historical characters due to her name, and once again she is ready to play a character of a begum in Tigmanshu Duliah’s next film Begum. Asking about it, Mallika’s close friend said that Tigmanshu told the script, and Mallika agreed for this film, because she loves to play Begum type roles.

Tigmanshu Dhulia has written the script and will also direct Begum . He disclosed that he wanted her to play the character of Tess from Thomas Hardy’s Tess of the D’Urbervilles . But Mallika was not ready for two films on the same subject, so he told her about Begum.

Haasil director said that he had studied Amrit Lal Nagar’s book, Saath Ghungat Wala Mukhada based on the life of Begum Sumroo in 1730.

It is said that the star cast of the film has attracted Mallika, because in the starcast includes Hollywood actor John Rhys Davies from Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade and The Lord of the Rings.

Zee Telefilms will produce Begum, and the shooting will start next year.
